Electricity-generating Power Plants

Page still under construction.

There are three main electricity-generating power plants in the North East. These are:

  • Hartlepool AGR Nuclear (1,210 MW)
  • Teesside Power CCGT/CHP (1,875 MW)
  • Alcan Lynemouth (540 MW)

Of these three though, Alcan's power plant operates for own consumption and does not export electricity to the national grid. The plant is predominately coal-fired, but currently co-fires with 10% biomass.

The Teesside power plant is gas-fired.
