Trade Associations and Regional Networking Groups
There are a range of Trade Associations providing support for businesses both in mature energy sector and in the new and emerging energy sectors. The Environmental Industries Federation is a business led trade association set up to provide a voice for, promote the interests of and further the aims of northern businesses involved in the environmental sector.
The North East of England is home to a range of companies and organisations with expertise in the development and promotion of PV. With the assistance of the Regional Development Agency, One NorthEast, several of them have formed PV-NE to provide a focus for both regional activities and for those who are interested in what the North East has to offer.
NOF is dedicated to representing the national and international business interests of member companies and promoting the North of England as an area of expertise in the marine, offshore and renewable energy sectors.
Northeast Biofuels is a cluster group of companies and organisations committed to the development of a sustainable transport biofuels business in the North East of England. Typically this involves the production of biodiesel blends and bioethanol petrol additive from non-food crops, and development of related supply chains.
The BIG consists of those from both the business and the public sector with a common goal of helping the North East exploit the significant opportunities that biomass offers.
The British Nuclear Energy Society (BNES), a learned society for the nuclear sector, has recently established a North East branch.
The Energy and Environmental Managers Group is sponsored by Carbon Trust, Energy Savings Trust, The Energy Institute, Northumbrian Water, the Environment Agency and TNEI Services Ltd and is a free forum for people working in the field of energy management to attend seminars, workshops, site visits and social events with the view to developing and exchanging information, knowledge and expertise.
